South West Health Care Community Mental Health Unit

AVOR was proud to be part of this Health Care and community project, delivering a purpose-built mental health and wellbeing facility for the Hamilton region, funded through the Victorian Government’s Regional Health Infrastructure Fund. From the outset, we saw this as an opportunity to create a welcoming, inclusive environment tailored to the needs of its users and the broader community.

Our design brings together five consulting suites, flexible education and conference spaces, staff areas, and secure landscaped outdoor zones within a clear, cohesive layout. Central to the architectural expression is a striking façade defined by large operable louvres, which not only give the building a strong identity but also play a vital role in conditioning the primary waiting areas—filtering light, enhancing privacy, and improving comfort.

The result is a calm, considered environment that supports wellbeing, reflects community values, and demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can positively shape essential healthcare spaces.
