Rokewood Pavillion
Rokewood Pavillion
Location: Rokewood, Victoria
Client: Golden Plains Shire Council
Value: $3 million
Status: Completed
Project Type: New Football Pavilion and alterations and additions to existing netball pavilion
Rokewood is a small Victorian township on the cusp of significant change, with major wind farm investment and residential growth extending from the Geelong region set to reshape its future. Yet despite its size, the town already comes alive every weekend, when the local oval draws hundreds together in a shared love of AFL.
AVOR was engaged to design a new pavilion that responds to this unique duality—serving both sport and community life. More than a sporting facility, it is conceived as the town’s civic heart: a place for weddings, funerals, birthdays, and everyday connection.
The building is elevated to enhance tiered viewing of the oval, while a bold roof form defines its presence, culminating in an oversized gable that frames the sporting field. Complementing the spectator experience is a commercial kitchen and restaurant that supports a 200-person function space, enabling year-round events.
The result is a landmark for Rokewood—practical, welcoming, and deeply embedded in community life.
